Minimalism on a Grand Scale

The project involved a comprehensive renovation of a 1970s house located on a hillside, including interior design and landscaping. The goal was to create a modern building in the least invasive way possible – without the need for permits or official approvals.

Despite the challenging topography, it was possible to create parking spaces for three cars as well as comfortable outdoor stairs. The terrace, offering a view of the mountain landscape, was extended to serve as a relaxing space for the entire family. The surrounding area features mostly evergreen plants, which require minimal maintenance.

By replacing the roof with an eavesless design and using black standing seam metal sheets along with white plaster, the building gained a contemporary character. Inside, the functional layout was redesigned to better suit the needs of a person with disabilities. The kitchen was opened up to the living room, and the bathroom was relocated to a larger space.

It was possible to preserve the original ceiling paneling in the living room, wooden floors in the attic, and beautiful oak stairs, which were restored and given a second life. The interior is filled with white tones, complemented by earthy colors, and thanks to the preservation of selected original elements, the space feels warm and inviting.
