Closer to Nature
The concept behind this interior design project was to create a space that harmoniously blends with its natural surroundings. Tall, open, and spacious rooms flow seamlessly into the large garden through expansive glazing, enhancing the sense of continuity between the indoors and the outdoors. The dominant color palette is composed of earthy tones — a unifying theme throughout the home that brings coherence and a natural rhythm to each zone.
One of the more distinctive design choices was the complete departure from using wood or wood veneer in the furniture. In the context of the earthy color scheme, this posed a unique and creative design challenge.
The heart of the home is the living area — a multifunctional space that integrates the dining room (adjacent to an open kitchen), a rock garden beneath the staircase, a cozy lounge zone, and a winter garden separated only by large glass panels. The central focal point is the fireplace, which visually divides the dining area from the relaxation zone.
A standout detail is the original floor mosaic, combining tiles styled like French parquet with marble-inspired elements. Above the dining area opens a two-storey space, surrounded by stairs and a mezzanine — forming an impressive, grand axis that defines the character of the entire home.
