Thoughtful Form, Challenging Terrain
Everyday comfort and the optimal use of a steeply sloped plot were the key design objectives for this project. The interiors are spacious and tall, with a clear division between the living and sleeping zones. The layout is well-considered and comfortable, without compromises in circulation width or stair usability. The form is simple yet distinctive, harmoniously integrated into the site’s natural topography.
The building’s shape is inspired by the classic Polish “kostka” house, but it has been enhanced with projecting bay elements (risalits), accented with dark clinker brick applied within a three-layer wall system.
The driveway and underground garage are located at the lowest point of the plot, minimizing earthworks and making the most of the natural slope. The use of a ventilated flat roof and three-layer walls significantly improved the building’s thermal performance and overall comfort.
