A Home with History and Heart
This project is truly special — both because of the building itself and the people who live in it. The house dates back to the early 20th century and has belonged to the same family from the very beginning, giving it deep emotional value. The entire ground floor was transformed into a single, comfortable, modern apartment.
The original layout was the result of decades of adaptations to changing needs and standards. This layered history required reorganization to create a cohesive and functional whole. We successfully separated the day and night zones and managed to add an extra WC — all without compromising the spacious feel of the interior.
We chose to preserve the retro character and soul of the place through custom-designed furniture that combines modern functionality, a light color palette (white and wood), and subtle references to early 20th-century forms. Bright tones were not chosen by chance — the original windows are relatively small, so maximizing natural light was essential.
At the clients’ request, shades of turquoise and blue were introduced as a recurring accent throughout the home, tying the spaces together. The kitchen took on a slightly more contemporary feel, while still aligning stylistically with the rest of the house.
We also thought about the four-legged member of the family — a special “cat highway” was designed for their ragdoll, discreetly integrated into the space to allow the cat to observe its territory from above.
All furniture was custom-made to meet the specific needs of the residents — with great respect for the history embedded in this home.
